Created for Greater Things

So I'm pretty sure I outdid myself this year and gave my sister the best Secret Santa present I've ever given anyone for Christmas. And yes, it's even better than the "Go Girl" urination device I gave KayLynne.

Reason why I'm so happy I picked it out for her is because
now I get to read it, too. :)

This book is seriously so great. So full of insight.

There's a quote on each page that Elder Jeffrey R. Holland has given at one point or another while he has been an Apostle.

And I know I am just one of the millions
who love listening/reading his powerful words
and feeling the Spirit in them,
so I wanted to share just a few from the book that really spoke to me
that anyone would also appreciate.

(#1)
"God doesn't care nearly as much about where you have been as He does about where you are and, with His help, where you are willing to go.
Everything in the gospel teaches us that we can change if we need to, that we can be helped if we truly want it, that we can be made whole, whatever the problems of the past" (pg. 12, 13).

(#2)
"On this upward and sometimes hazardous journey, each of us meets our share of daily challenges. If we are not careful, as we peer through the narrow lens of self-interest, we may feel that life is bringing us more than our fair share of trials - that somehow others  seem to be getting off more lightly. But the tests of life are tailored for our own best interests, and all will face the burdens best suited to their own mortal experience. In the end we will realize that God is merciful as well as just and that all the rules are fair. We can be reassured that our challenges will be the ones we needed, and conquering them will bring blessings we could have received in no other way" (pg. 66).

(#3)
"Someone you know is carrying a spiritual or physical or emotional burden of some sort, or some other affliction drawn from life's catalog of a thousand kinds of sorrow. In the spirit of Christ's first invitation to His twelve Apostles, jump into this work. Help people. Heal old wounds and try to make things better" (pg. 37).
